Creating a Brand for Devon Museums

Competition Brief

Introduction and Background

Devon Museums is the collective name for a county-wide network of 78 small museums in Devon. Recently the museums have been working together on new projects, including Count Me In, a project bringing together museums and young people to develop exciting new projects for younger audiences.

You can find out more about Devon Museums (including the current graphic identity) by visiting http://devonmuseums.net.

It has now become necessary for Devon Museums to develop its own umbrella brand, to be used across a variety of materials for a variety of different audiences. Key to this will be the development of a graphic identity that can be used both on and offline.

Requirement

The Devon Museums graphic identity will consist of a logo, colour palette and recommended typeface that represents the work of Devon Museums as it looks forward to new audiences without alienating existing stakeholders.

Most importantly, the logo needs to be flexible enough to be adaptable for different target markets, from young people and families to policy-makers and funders. It should be able to be used in monochrome as well as full colour.

The Competition

The graphic identity is being offered as a competition to young people across Devon with the aim of giving a wide variety of young people the opportunity to shape future perceptions of Devon’s rich cultural heritage.

The competition is open to young people aged from 18 to 25 only.

The Prize

The prize for this competition is a new-generation Apple iPod Nano 16GB  with a £50 iTunes voucher.

Deadline

The deadline for this competition is January 14 2011.

To Enter

Please submit your entries to Simon Gough, Redfront via email at simon@redfront.co.uk. Entries should be provided in both EPS and jpg format.

Please only submit one idea per person.

Please contact Simon Gough (via email) before the deadline should you require any further information regarding the brief.
